What is Masters Certification

American Institute of Intradermal Cosmetics, AIIC, is the largest educational institution for permanent makeup in US. To achieve AIIC Master Technician certification, a candidate must pass written and oral exam and demonstrate practical expertise by performing all of the permanent cosmetics procedures before a board of recognized leading permanent cosmetics experts.

Unlike other, more common certifications, such as SPCP or IAM, which are awarded on the basis of a written exam only, AIIC Master Technician Certification is unique in its requirement of demonstrated practical expertise in permanent cosmetics. It is your assurance that your technician is expert in actual practice of permanent makeup, not just its theory.

What is Permanent Cosmetics?
Permanent Cosmetics is a paramedical procedure, where a minute amount of pigment is inserted under the top layer of the skin, achieving effect similar to that of the makeup.This allows for a safe and long lasting method of defining facial features. The difference permanent cosmetics can make is amazing, helping to emphasise the eyes and lips and rebalance the face, creating a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

Once the skin heals over the inserted pigment, it seals the makeup inside. Protected by the skin, the makeup is care free, waterproof, will not smudge or run and can last for years.

What can I expect?
First, we will recommend shapes and colors, which are best for you. Next, applying these shapes and colors with temporary makeup, we will show you what the permanent makeup may look like on you. When we find the design and colors that you love and approve, we will put it on your body with permanent makeup. We use epinephrine enhanced state-of-the-art topical anesthetic, so most people find the procedure quite comfortable and experience minimal or no swelling.

Right after the procedure, the colors may look too bright and dramatic. However, as skin heals over the pigment, the colors will begin to soften and blend with your own skin color, creating a more natural look. The shade and intensity of the final color will depend on the color of the chosen pigment as well as color and translucency of your skin.

We usually offer a complimentary second visit, several weeks after the initial procedure. During this visit we will add more color, if desired, and add artistic touches for even more natural appearance.
Is the Treatment Safe?
Permanent makeup procedure does have some risks comparable to those of other minor surgical procedures, skin piercings or a tattoo. The pigment is inserted through tiny punctures in client's skin. This caries risk of infection. Therefore, sterility of the operating environment is extremely important.

To minimize the risk of infection, we maintain stringent standards of hygiene. All needles are single-use disposable cartriges. All other equipment used during the procedure is sterile and disinfected between each client.
Will the procedure hurt?
While some people feel no discomfort at all, others may find the procedure a little uncomfortable. Topical anaesthetics are used prior to and throughout the treatment in order to alleviate any discomfort. Injectable anesthetics are also available. if needed.
Will it look natural?
During the procedure you will have approval of everything, enabling you to have complete control. Once the pigment color has been selected to match your individual skin tone, hair and eye color, a small amount of the pigment will be placed on the treatment area in order for you to see the color on your skin. The shape of eyebrows and lipliners will also be drawn on with conventional cosmetics prior to beginning of the treatment so that you can gain an impression of the final result. Shapes and colors can be selected to achieve a subtle, fresh and completely natural looking enhancement or, if you prefer, a more intensified or dramatic look.
How long will it last?
Permanent cosmetics may last many years, however, the longevity will vary between individuals depending on a person’s age, condition of the skin and other external factors. It is recommended that clients return for a color touch-up procedure every 6 to 12 months to keep the treatment area looking crisp and fresh.

Is It a Tattoo?
Both Tattoo and Permanent Makeup involve placement of pigment under the skin. However, tattoo artists work to create crisp, atention-getting designs that look good. Permanent makeup artists work to create subtle, natural designs, which do not attract attention but make the wearer look good. This important difference leads to a different choice of techniques and colors and requires different skill set.
